Thought I'd look into sorting out a leaky Rib Case tranny. As usual, it always starts with a "simple" idea... then turns into a bigger project. Now I'm in complete rebuild mode. It's an "older" rib case so new gears and synchro's are turning out to be hard to find. Gears look good, but synchro's are shot. Hoping I remember how it all goes back together. Love working on these old cars... :smile:

I'm impressed! I've gotten pretty fearless diving into things, but transmissions make me very nervous. Let us know how it goes.
 
"Oops I did it again..."

A few years ago Practical Classics magazine did a three part article on rebuilding an A series transmission - I have a copy in PDF - if it would help. PM me your email and I will send it.
 
Well, we got it back together and it seems to shift correctly on the bench. Amazing how simple these things are engineered. Which I guess accounts for their longevity. Other than some of the small springs and ball bearings, it wasn't too bad. Didn't take many pics during reassembly, but, here are a couple of when completed.
