TR5/TR250 Rheostate switch

You must gain access to the back of the dashboard. Remove the speedometer and tach, Then remove the screws holding the dash in place. You can then pull the dash forward, gaining access. Remove the screws holding the rheostat.

I have the dash apart. I can see the switch and the screws holding the switch, but the shaft goes through the dash and I can not seem to figure out how to get the black knob off so I can slip the switch through the dash and out...

Nose,

They can be a bugger to get off and some just end up breaking them off. You could try a little heat from a heat gun or blow dryer but make sure to protect the dash. I ended up breaking mine as it was stuck on solid.

Ok, i figured it out. the black knob and the shaft of the rheostat are one piece. Pull the knob straight out. Be careful not to damage the black knob. I got shaft off, and was able to unscrew the switch and take it out for better look.
looks a little rusty. most likely that's the issue with it not working.....
