TR6 Rheostat Issues

1971 TR6. I just finished putting the dash back together. All gauges were reconditioned and calibrated. The rheostat works fine on the tach and speedo but doesn't work on the other 4 gauges. Any ideas why? All of the light bulbs are new and all gauges are properly wired and work correctly. Thanks, Bob

Do you mean they stay at full brightness? Or don't come on at all?

How do those lights get grounded? I honestly do not know for a TR6 but on earlier TRs I recall the speedo and tach has separate ground wires from the smaller gauges.

Yu should have a ground harness for the gauges, small black wire with five round clips, four for the back of the gauges and one for a ground onto the metal dash.

Definitely check the grounds first. They are not required for gauge operation, but are required for those lamps to work.

Then I might double-check the red/white at the rheostat. Dan's diagram shows a union between the multiple red/white wires separate from the rheostat, but it seems like I recall seeing two red/whites on the rheostat. If one was loose, that might cause your problem.
