RHD BJ8 Throttle Control Rods

Good afternoon chaps. Has anyone with a RHD BJ8 any details of the length of the connecting rods for the throttle controls?

I have converted L to RHD and the setup needs new rods. The manual just shows a LHD arrangement.

If anyone could supply approx measurements ball joint to ball joint, that would be most helpful as a starting point as the threaded rods available have to be cut to length from scratch.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards Al

I measured centre to centre on each of the ball joints. The one on the carb = 8 cm, the one to the carb side of the rod under the dash = 11 cm and the one from the rod under the dash to the throttle pedal = 16 cm.

Well that's what mine are. Can't guarantee yours will be the same as every Healey is different!!!!

Thanks for doing that, hope the rain has stopped. Have set mine up roughly but will now measure and compare to your settings. It obviously has an impact on the angles of the levers etc.
When I had my last car 25 yrs ago AH Spares had them on the shelf..alas no more.Interestingly I spoke to John, sales manager at AHS who had a set on his desk poss with a view to remanufacture . I guess if enough enquiries they would crack on!
Thanks again

Just an update....my set up is similar though the rod from the manifold to the carbs is quite a bit longer. I can adjust this though to something similar to yours!
I have fitted a fast flow manifold from AHS ..AKA Rawles the supplier so could account for a few differences?
Thanks again AL

I have a Rawles Alloy head. See attached. IMG_3066.jpgIMG_3064.jpg

The 11Cm and 8Cm rods.

Re upper picture. Don't like the 3 o'clock position of the arm while at rest. Wide-open this puts it too close to 6 o'clock and danger of over-center stuck open throttle. IMO at rest should be more like 2 o'clock such that at wide open throttle it would be "at least 20 degrees short of the vertical position".

Setup described with drawings in Bentley manual section A.37, pp 55-56.
