Hi all.
The reverse lights stay on. '78 Midget 1500.
I figure it might just be a stuck 'sensor', but where might I find it? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I doubt it is a sensor. It would most likely be a switch or micro-switch that should be related/connected to the transmission or shifter. Can you get under your car and search around the trans? Or access it from the top. Check under the shift boot.

I am sure an owner of such a car will answer you here with more specifics.

Bruce,
forgive a swede's poor English... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
a switch/micro-switch is what I meant.
Haven't had a chance to look yet, will get to it on the weekend. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

No problem. Instead of looking for a switch, you can see if any electric wires run to the transmission and if so that would most likely be were the switch is.

I did just that when I noticed the problem.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to get 'down and dirty' at that time and soon lost sight of said wires...
I'm sure someone will know where to look.
Thanks again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Carl - on my 76 midget the reverse light switch is located on the left side of the transmission just forward of the shifting mechanism. It can be accessed by removing the shift lever gaiter.

I hope this helps
