Reverse lamps

As some of you know, we drove our '71 MGB for the first time yesterday. We've discovered that the reverse lamps are always ON. Can't figure out where the switch is from looking at wiring diagrams and Bentley doesn't tell us squat. Any info? Thanks.

reverse lamp switch should be attached to the transmission - assuming it is similar to the Midget, the switch should look like a small bottle cap with two tails (the wires). Their proximity to things like roads and exhausts make them real easy to melt together.

There are two identical looking switches on the MGB transmission. If memory serves me correctly, the backup lamp switch is on the right hand side (the other switch is for the O/D.

These are hard to get to, but it can be done with the engine/transmission in situ.

Thanks guys...we'll take a look.
