Hi, my name is David Kiehna. I'm 21, and currently a student at Mississippi State University.

I have owned my 1974 MGB since the summer of 2001. It has been driven nearly 30,000 miles since the day I got it running after it had sat under a tarp outside for a time and in a garage. The car has always been a rolling restoration. I started with sill replacements on both sides, a quick engine refresh, new top, and new paint. Now a spare engine has been built from a bare block up to being topped off with a Ported head. The interior has received Prestige Auto Trim carpets and a stayfast top. I have converted over to saddle leather miata seats. The Bosch alternator helps power the Hella E-code H4 headlamps and my 8" Marchal 902 rally lamps.

In the past 3 years it seams that every nut and bolt on the car has been touched as one point or another. The one thing I have not had one problem with is the original wiring harness!!

I drive it year round rain, snow, or shine. I drive it hard and put it away wet. The engine is putting out a healthy 115 hp at the crankshaft and the suspension is rebuilt with poly and V8 bushings. The overdrive helps me cruise comfortably at 75 mph on the interstate while returning 32-35 mpg. Top speed is a bit over 110 mph with my Smoothline hardtop installed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I'm hooked on MGBs for life and will keep my first and current MGB till the day I die.

Hi David. I'm fairly new to this forum. Spent some time on the "other" forum and I think we crossed paths there. Are the one who goes to Knoxville occasionally, passing through Crossville, where I live?

I have a 74 B also and am nuts about it. When I find time, I've got to get a picture added to my signature.

WB, David.

The ~much maligned~ Lucas electrics of all the LBC's in my history have been just as reliable. Only when there's been "intervention" by ham-handed radio installers or their like have there been problems.

Only thing to keep you from your goal of retaining the B as a lifelong ride would be "rust mites" AFAIK.

Welome back to the BCF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

There is also a section to post pics of your rides elswhere on the forum...would love to see some more 74 B's on it.

Welcome, and if you don't mind, where did you get those Marchal lights? I'm looking for Marchal light covers, do you have any leads?

David! Good to see you back.

DAVID!! Yea...now we've gotta pull Adam Housley over here & we have the young person contingent sewed up!

Guys, if you've not seen David's car in person, its something else! He's done a sweet job on it!

&, someday, get him to post a photo of his BMW & tell you the 'deer in the headlight' story.

Welcome back David! I had wondered what became of you. Good to see you back again!

Regards,
Basil

Hiya David! It's great to see you here!

Loaded my signature. The BMW was bought this past March after I sold my 1969 Lotus Europa S2. My MGB is dirty because I sat in the garage for a few weeks while I rebuilt the rear end and rear suspension. The burgandy MGB is my dads driver which has just over 50k original miles.

Matt, the driving lamps were bought on eBay. I've thought about getting my Mom, lol, to sew me some vinyl covers and have Marchal screen printed on the front.

Ahh more young blood. And a Brit/ German crossover owner too (see sig) My first "B" was a BRG 77 converted to chrome bumpers, looked a lot like yours, but with more rust.
P.S. like the driving lights!
Welcome back, hope too see many posts.
