Hi Russ,
I'll have a go in another post to put up some photos. I usually use photobucket in forums does that work here?
Anyway this car (my 2nd sidescreen TR) is a 1958 TR3A bought off a mate about 5yrs ago as a registered, drivable concern.
Did a mini restoration on it where all the brakes were overhauled, new alloy radiator, new suspension, overhauled gauges, high torque starter, alternator, electronic ignition and re-paint. Won the rookie award award in our concourse a few yrs back. However the car never had a full body off overhaul and the old chassis was very tired.
Getting a cracked cylinder head was the impetus to take the car off the road, initially I was just going to overhaul the engine but once I removed the motor I got a really good look at things underneath and around the firewall and decided if I was going to be spending money on an engine then I'd better get the body up to scratch first.
Finding a restored chassis for sale within our club gave me the kick start to get into it so here I am.
When I got this car I joined up into lots of Triumph forums but in the end was more busy driving the car then talking about it I guess, computer dying, loosing bookmarks all added to not keeping track of all the places I'd visited.
It'l be a long term project to get the car going this time around unless I win the lottery. I expect it will be the last classic car I'll own so want it right to see me into my old age.
Mike
