TR6 Resurrecting a water pump, worth it?

Any thoughts on the best way to make sure there are no leaks at the big water pump hose? It is pretty roughed up from rust... picture below.

Based on what I read at Wishbone site, sounds aluminum replacements are dodgy.

The casting still looks thick and strong throughout the circumference from the picture. I think a new, soft hose would seal up fine, I have seen much worse in use.
 
I agree it looks alright. If you have to replace, take care to see that the keyway on the new shaft matches the width of the slot in the cast iron pulley. I had one with a metric keyway several years ago and had to have the shaft machined.

You could put a bit of sealant on it too.

Looks decent, but I would clean it up around the lip. My favorite tool for projects like this are 1” belt sanders that can conform to the shape.

Thank you all for the advice. It cleaned up nicely. Knocked the interior rust out with porting tools. Love reclaiming the old parts.

Looking good, reminds me of the days of clean and paint and clean and paint and clean and paint when I redid my car several years ago.

Thanks. Whenever I clean and paint a part I end up walking out to garage to admire it a few times before moving on to the next job. Long road ahead, made slightly longer with supplier closings and delays... but totally on board with them being safe and responsible.
