I just replaced my hard drive and therefore lost all of previous files on our TR6. If I am going to go ahead and begin to rebuild that history plus my projects moving forward, I was considering using some type of professional (but inexpensive /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) software. Do you folks have any suggestions? I was tracking / considering one before the HD went, but now I can't find it. Any recommendations would be appreciated, especially if you are familiar with the program. Thanks for the help and direction in advance
 
The only one that I am aware of is designed for business use and therefore has all the work order generating and inventory software as well. It isn't cheap either.

The developer told me that he was working on a version for the do-it-yourselfer but as far as I know it isn't ready for distribution yet. I'll check with him again and see if he is still developing it or not.

I've simply used an excel spreadsheet to manage my rebuild project. First I went to rimmer bros website and copied the various illustrations pages such as body, frame, suspension etc. and pasted the images into the spreadsheet. Size them appropriately and then make your to-do list below each project section.
 
what exactly do you mean by restoration software? I'm envisioning a kind of computerized journal or free-form database.

I'm using a program called Evernote for all of my
free-form data - allows you to insert text, todo lists, pictures, snippets of webpages you find useful(and automatically includes the link from where it came), has some nice built-in formatting options (i'm a huge nut for bulleted lists), etc etc etc.

what I really like is the search option that instantly will show you any "note" that includes the word you type in the box. The other really nice feature is that you can "tag" each note with keywords and when you click on the tab they all show up. Makes finding stuff really easy. Working as a system administrator I've always got little bits of information that I need to recall to fix this or that two years down the line and this is the best product I've found (and I have literally used dozens). I have a category for Triumph and then subcategories under this and any time I see a little snippet of info I'll want later I just cut and paste it into a note, drag the appropriate "tag" onto the note and I'm done. It also stores it all chronologically so you can browse through it by time.

as an aside... I always burn the downloaded installer onto a disk so that someday in the future if they stop giving it away for free I can load the old version if my computer goes TU... (this program also has a built in backup function so I have it automatically saving a copy on my second hard drive - OK - I'm paranoid - I actually automatically generate 3 different backups one on my drive, one on my network, and one on the internet) Speaking from experience as a IT guy who's house payment and food for the kids depends on it - backups are your friend. I've saved the business of a multi-billion dollar company TWICE in the last year with a $100 tape.

Dear List,

After I posted, I continued to search and although I could not find the original program I was considering, I did find a suitable alternative. It's called CarlinkPlus and you get a 30 day (or so) free trial and then you can buy it for ~ $10. I downloaded it this afternon and started playing with it. It might be find for some of you out there like me looking to simply document the investments in my TR6. I'll get back in a month or so with my final evaluation, but early indicators are that it will be fine. You can download a sample of it yourself at the below

There are a couple of programs I just noticed for sale on eBay. Here's one: restoration software There was one other brand also.
