TR2/3/3A Restoration of 1954 TR-2 Long Door

John,

Did the chrome ring in the mouth come originally with the TR-2? I have the grill, but no ring, nor do I see any holes where the attach hardware might go?

This is what the judging guide says about it:

"Chrome Surround - Chrome trim around air deflector.
- TR2 is optional. TR3 is required.
- Two types installed: (a) U-shaped with screws in upper corners (b) full surround is
joined with clips on both sides."

I think the TR2 had the "U" surround like on mine, but the TR3 changed to the full surround.

This what I have heard, but not from a judging standard; the 54 had no chrome, the 55 had U shaped one piece Chrome, the 56 I think is tr3, but maybe the early ones are tr2, and I am not sure what they had maybe either or, but Randal’s car is a 1956; he will know--- and then in 57 they had the full 2 piece ring. I have also heard the 55 U shaped piece is difficult to find. One other thing, I guess the year of the car sometimes depends on when it was registered in the USA, so the vin would probably be the safest, but you have a long door, so they should be consistent, maybe.
