Even though I have been prowling the forum for quite a while I have only posted once. I have actually owned the same TR since 1973, I bought it 6 months old. I've been married for 32 years, and my wife admits that the car is my first love. I am going to be posting a few pictures to introduce my car and start contributing as much as I can, I am not a mechanic or even close, but I have done all the work and repairs myself for over 30 years. I think the forum is an awesome resource and a great way to keep these cars going. I just wish I weren't so lazy at typing

And now on to the car...

Trouble,

Welcome to the Forum.

That is one awesome TR6 and you're either kidding us or yourself if you did all of that work and don't consider yourself to be an accomplished mechanic.

I'm going to ask you to type a bit of information because I have to know what kind of car those seats came from and how you got them to fit. And who did that beautiful upholstery work????

Oh and another thing. If you finished second, who finished first? One of Jay Leno's cars?

Hi Paul

I always read your posts and advice and I know you as a resident Tr-6 guru. I have followed your engine mods as they are pretty close to what I have done.

While in college(long time ago) I learned to work on them, helping all my friends who had British cars. They are actually uncomplicated compared to modern cars (BTW I just screwed up my brothers Ford explorer this weekend)

The seats came out of a Mazda Miata, I'm not exactly sure what year. I like them for the built in headrest speakers, a little bit of help with the radio but not much. I found via Google a man by the name Simon Blackburn selling conversion brackets to fit the TR-6. I only fitted the front bracket on the passenger side, the drivers side I bolted down straight through the floor, to keep the seat at the same height as stock. As for the upholstery, I got them done at a local upholstery shop that is no longer around.

BTW...
First place was won by trailer queen, way out of my league.

Nice to have you here Mike. Really nice job on the car.

I don't know whether my car is reading my mind and anticipating a seat change, but everytime that I start to think about it, they seem to be a bit more comfortable.

If there is such a thing when you're 6'1" and 210 lbs in a TR6 seat.

Only four posts and been a member for over a year?!?!

C'mon Mike! The car is stunning and your recalcitrance INTOLERABLE!!! :jester:

But since you're nearly a neighbor, you're forgiven.

Hi Paul:
I'm not as tall as you, but I don't think you should have any more problem with the seats height than the originals if you bolt the driver side straight through the floor in the front to keep them same the same height as stock.

Centering them is by a lot of trial and error to get them not to rub against the top when it's down...and they are soooo much more comfortable and adjustable, IMO no reason to spend even more $ to redo the factory seats

Really nice car you have there TRTrouble. That's a first place winner if I've ever seen one. :winner1: TRTrouble!

If I had a TR6, I'd most likly put in the Miata seats also. I'm very familar with them...I also own a Miata. They are very comfortable and hold you in pretty good. For you taller drivers, the Miata guys often do a seat-ectomy to get a little bit more head room. They cut down some of the foam cushion. I've read on Miata.net that as much as two inches of extra head room is no problem.

Art,

What year is your Miata? I'm trying to pin down the year(s) of Miata seats that will work in the TR6 so I can go hunting.

Do yours look like Mike's? A picture with the year would be great.

Thanks for helping out...

Paul, All years will work. Depends on your budget and if you want the speakers.
