I turned the radio on in my car yesterday and displayed on the infotainment screen was the station frequency, the title of the song being broadcast AND an ad for Bounty paper towels.?
Is there no sanctuary from advertising?

Yes, drive the TR6. Our newest vehicle is a 2009; none of them have an "infotainment screen."
My car is a 2019; I thought I was safe.
Good advice to drive my TR6.

That's weird, my radio never seems to do that.

Fortunately,NONE of our vehicles have a screen in the dash.
Another reason not to buy a new vehicle, aside from those "easy payments".

You are being ear-rational. On your radio you actually listen to the same ads.
Ahh, but I only have to hear them I don;t have to also read them while I drive.

Does anyone else find the idea of an "infotainment" screen ironic? We are always told how dangerous it is to look at our cell phones to drive and then every single modern car manufacturer puts a giant cell phone in the middle of the dash.

I didn’t have to watch an ad. It was just an image of a roll of Bounty paper towels. It stayed on the screen for a short time and then it disappeared. I immediately changed the station.

Weird - only ad I ever got on my car radio was for Wheaties, sponsor of "Jack Armstrong - the All American Boy"!

Never missed a single episode when I was driving home from my job at the Consolidated Arm Garter Company!

My daily driver doesn't show images, but will run little sentences suggesting I call about garage doors, windows or roofs along with things I should be buying at the store. I know they're there, but don't really pay attention. Just like with Youtube and other online sites, you just can't get away. Shoot I get the occasional ad pop up on my phone...

I have the same thing Greg, about 60 GBs of music on my phone. However, I do like to tune into the radio sometimes just to see what I'm missing.

Something I really miss about today's world -

People listening to the radio all together, and talking about what they hear. Instead of millions of people in their silos, just swiping and forwarding.
