TR2/3/3A Requesting help on removing TR3A steering column and box

I decided to get a new rocker shaft. I also decided to send the unassembled steering box to Macy's Garage and have them install and ream the new bushing. I have another question on my steering box rebuild ....I have heard that the worm gear/shaft can be installed 180 degrees and that will provide a "new" face" for the rocker shaft peg to ride on the worm gear? is that possible and will that provide a better "face" than where the rocker shaft peg was riding originally? Thanks!

No, the worm only goes one way. There is a tight spot in the center of travel (when properly adjusted), which should correspond to driving straight ahead.

Some people talk about installing a worn peg turned 90 degrees, which would work. But new pegs are cheap enough that I always just replace it. I've only done it a few times now, but I've never needed to ream the bushing either.
