Repro trafficators are sealed?

I met a guy the other day who is restoring a BJ8.

He purchased 2 repro trafficators. I believe one was from moss.
Both have issues. Being I have worked on mine, I offered to give a look see.
He does not that the original trafficator.

Normally there would be 3 screws holding the back plate on. (photo below)
The reproduction ones he received are riveted.

Has anyone tried to open one of these riveted repros?
Where can he get a refurbished original, or reproduction that is not riveted?

I advised he try BCS in Stockton.

The one I bought from MOSS about a year ago had TWO screws, not 3 and not rivets. Note that one of the screws came loose and the parts inside started falling out. I finally had to take it apart and rix or replace parts. I think if it would have had rivets or 3 screws, I would not have had the problem. I internals are essentially the same as the original trafficator.

What are the issues? Maybe the problem isn't the trafficators.
