Hi guys, me again... still working that clutch job. Wanted to check if it's common for that front black round rubber tranny seal to go in REAL tight. I couldn't get mine to go it no matter how hard i pressed it so (get a load of this!) i end up putting the input shaft cover in the oven to 200 degrees to expand the recessed area where the seal goes; when i tried pressing the seal in it (you guessed it) the heat deformed the seal.
Is there a trick to this that I'm missing? Would it have been easier (and correct) to just position the seal on the shaft then bolt the shaft cover over it, allowing the torquing of the shaft cover bolts to press the seal in?
The seal was a moss, is there a better brand which would install easier?
many thanks.. -steve
