replacing the interior on a 6

I think I finally have a plan of attack for the car.

I've spent the last month doing the rear end of the car. Rebuilding the suspension, getting the hubs rebuild, rebuilding the differential, treating the rust I can get to with out taking the car apart.

The seats are completely shot and the interior is real bad (door panels falling off, pieces of carpet missing, etc.) I was planning on stripping down the car this winter and doing everything right (replacing the rockers and floors, pulling the wings, painting the frame, treating the rust.)

But I do want to clean up the interior in the mean time. Knowing that I am going to pull it out this winter, can I replace the the carpet and still safely pull it out this winter? Or would it be better to just live with it?

Thanks, I that link has good advice for permanently installing the carpet. What I was looking for is there are way to install the carpet, so you can remove it in 8 months without ruining it?

If you are going to put new carpet in the car, I wouldn't install it till after you have done the body work. Some of the carpet will be held in with snaps, which you will either ruin or paint over, then have to replace them. If the floor is coming out, you will be trying to retrofit the carpet. A lot of the carpet is tack glued in. Again, the less you remove it, the better you are. I say stick some cheap rugs in for now and do it right later.
