I'm replacing the struts in the Datsun B210 with gas
cartridge ones.The instructions (yes- I do read them sometimes),say to add oil after installing the cartridge.Is this necessary?
Thoughts &/or suggestions?

For my Capri struts, I use type F tranny fluid, most
cartridge type struts call for a 10wt oil, AKA hydraulic
fluid. I've also used power steering fluid in a pinch...
