Hi All,
I'm looking to replace the rear valance panel on my TR6 and I'd like to know what involved in doing do. I have the outer panel already and would like to know if I should get the inner panels as well (one upper and one lower) or how hard is it to reuse the original ones. Is this an easy job? Thanks for the help guys!
 
I just removed my rear end and it was fairly easy. You will need to remove both rear fenders to get to the valance spot welds. Unless you really butcher the valance reinforcement panel there should be no need to replace these. I would highly recommend the Wivie spot weld drill bits. I've found that drilling a small starter hole for the Wivie works the best. Don't drill thru both sheet metal panels to remove weld, just the sheet metal panel you are removing. A small putty knife prying between the panels helps break the bond. The valance is spot welded along the bottom, along the top, and along both sides to the inner fenders. There are also a few spot welds on the valance where the bumpers extend thru the valance. Figure on spending about 1 hour to get the valance off. Good luck, it really is pretty easy.
