Replacing Factory Hardtop Rear Window

Eventually planning on tackling the old seals on our BN7 window. Never done it before and just starting to wrap my head around how to do it. Can anyone share a pic of the trim tool and spline installation tool? Where can I purchase them (located in Ontario, Canada). Thanks.

As I recall we made them as we went from small nylon spatulas and chopsticks. Plan to use lots of Windex and have lots patience.

There is no “special trim tool” that I know of. I have a hard flat plastic trim tool, but can’t remember where it came from.

You do need the spline installation tool; see pic - this is one from Cape International.

So I compare the original rear window seals to the ones supplied by the suppliers . The seals are clearly different . The seal that goes over the top edge of the widow is fine but the lower seal across the bottom cantrail requires the extra lip of rubber (see bottom left corner of old seal)

Plan to use lots of Windex and have lots patience.

I would stay away from Windex and glass cleaners in general. They will fog plastics. There are plexi cleaners that you could use or some kind of "personal" lubricant.
