Replacement Wheel Hub Source?

I have decided it is time to replace my wheel hubs. I have a couple of questions that you can help me with: Is there any difference in the quality of the hubs that are available at the different parts sources? Which source has the best price for the highest quality (if there is indeed a difference in quality)? Also, are there any other considerations? TIA!

HI Stever, I doubt that there is any large difference in the quality of the hubs available. However, to find the best price you will be required to check them all out. Somtimes you can run into a sale at one of the vendors which might save you a few Bucks.---Fwiw---Keoke

If by wheel hub you mean the wire wheel center then an indicative price is about US$ 95 each chromed, if you mean the hub extension that bolts to the brake drum then about US$ 150 each

Stever, Healey Surgeons has them at around $135. I got some from them and they seem to be very good quality.

Stever, Wana's price from Healey Surgeons of ~$135 may be the bottom line these days. British Wire Wheel is listing them at $165 for fronts and $150 for rears.---Fwiw---Keoke

Hi, Guys, Thanks for the info! It is amazing how expensive this hobby is becoming!! And to think that I would have been blissfully driving along and one day the wheel would spin or something more drastic if I hadn't been warned beforehand! I forget exactly where I got the idea to inspect my hubs, but as I was replacing the rear wheel oil seals I noticed that they were 'sharp'. A quick look at Norm Nock's tech notes told the sad story: Better look at replacing them. So....I guess I will have to postpone other lesser important 'projects'... Thanks again. If I find some real bargains I will notify the gang. Regards.

Are you getting any movement when you try to rotate the wheel by hand (while elevated of course)? Are all the hubs "worn" the same amount? Unless you are talking about the threading that holds the nock-off on you wouldn't loose a wheel. Where you would get into trouble is when you are breaking. If they were slipping, you'd hear it and feel it. Being in Texas you have a great source of knowledge in the Texas club. Let them give you a second opinion. "Sharp" is subjective. I would definitly grease them every time you remove a wheel.
