Replacement Water pump 1098

HAN8L1965

Have had a rough week ordering parts. I ordered a new water pump for my 1098 Part # 2-130 from VB. The turbine is quite a bit deeper than the original. It actually hits the top of the water jacket but not the outside cylinder wall. It can be made to work with a little grinding and the extra size of the turbine may actually move the water more efficiently. Is this normal having this extra length or is the part defective?

There are (were) 2 different size impellers over the years but the pumps are the same size and shape.
Early 1275 thin wall blocks take the shallow impeller pump.
This would be 1967 only. All other A series engines should take the longer impeller pump.
You can grind a bit off the impeller hub and it will be fine.
