MGB Replacement Radio Suggestions for 73 MGB Roadster?

Re: Replacement Radio Suggestions for 73 MGB Roads

That's why I am sticking with the AM period piece. I'd rather make the sure I can hear the engine. Can't hear myself think in the GT.

Hi all! I recently purchased a '73 roadster which has a modern radio/cassette deck installed. I'd like to replace it with an AM/FM radio that looks "period".

Does anyone know of a retro-looking AM/FM radio that would work in this application?

Thanks in advance!
Marty

Hi go to E-bay and look at the Kenwood KRC 3400.---Keoke

I've got a Kenwood something-or-another in the GT. When not in use it has a blank plate showing. It's pretty high tech when in use. The plate flips and reveals the face plate. CD player too!

I didn't buy it; it came with the car, but I do like it.

Personally, I've always felt like anything other than a portable boombox in a roadster was sort of like asking someone to slit the top with a box cutter.

I had a cheap am/fm cassette in my '79 years ago. Even then, I wouldn't lock the car. Sure enough, one night, someone stole the radio ( worth maybe 2.00 USD at Goodwill ). I wasn't happy about it, but on the other hand, at least, since I didn't lock the doors, I didn't have to shell out 400.00 ( 1995 dollars ) for a new top!

I'm not in the market for a radio/player right now, but if I was, I'd get one with a USB port.
That way, I could hook up my iPod or any MP3 player.
Truthfully, I could do without the CD part....just an AM/FM and a USB port would suit me fine.

Presently, I use my iPod in my mini-van with a broadcaster that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It's OK, but sometimes I have to hunt around for a "clear" band.

This Kenwood radio/CD with USB port is $105 at Pricegrabber....similar deals elsewear.
