replaceing the front Hub

I need to replace my front left hub.

Looks like I remove the 5 nuts. The front is different from the back. The back, remove the nuts and it comes off.

What about the front? I see a long bolt in the center of the hub. What's that for? Removal of the front hub, just the bolts and off it comes?

Are the front and rear hubs suppose to be painted black? Front left one is old and painted black. Front right one is new and not painted.

Same goes for the back. Old one is painted black, new one is not.

Looks like the old one were plain steel? Maybe why they were painted black? New ones have that light golden color. A process to keep it from rusting maybe? There is a name for that, but it escapes me.

I've cleaned the spines on all wheels and all hubs. I'll be regreasing them with Copaslip.

I also see there is grease inside the front and back hubs. Why? Should I clean that out and replace with new grease? If so, what kind of grease, etc.

Looking forward to your help. Roger

Roger;

Any kind of "grease" inside the hubs is ok to prevent rust,just a light coat is all you need. ---Keoke
