TR4/4A Repair options for a TR4a exhaust manifold?

I picked up a TR4a exhaust manifold with the intent to install it in my TR4 along with an SU HS6 carburator setup.

The exhaust manifold is uncracked and was a relative bargain - but it had been out in the elements for quite a while so the gasket mating surfaces appear pretty well pitted.

Is a trip to the machine shop in order for something like this, or perhaps is there a high temp sealer that can be used to augment the normal gaskets? I am not opposed to spending the money to doing it right, but since I don't have a favorite machine shop yet it would be a lot easier if I could just sort it out myself.

Thanks,
Randy

You might try high-temp atv (orange color). I used to use it on a 2-stroke racing exhaust that ran close to 1000 degrees and it held up pretty well.

Also, the manifold is soft and could probably be shaved a bit. Ask your machinist.

I would just draw a file over the surface to dress it up a bit down to clean metal (not trying to remove all the pits). The exhaust gasket will easily fill in the pits. Or just pop some bucks if you have them, and have it milled.
