TR2/3/3A Removing front lower wishbone confusion

I am in the process of replacing all the bushings in my front suspension, 63 TR3B. Am following both the Service Manual and Haynes. I have done ok so far, this being my first time doing a front suspension. I have the spring out, the upper wishbone out, tie rods out, rear lower wishbone out. Where I am stuck is the front lower wishbone. It will not clear the nut on the bottom of the steering box. There is nothing in the manuals that say you have to remove the steering box to get the wishbone out. Is the lower pin supposed to move, allowing you to slide it back and pull the bushing, etc. out that way?

No, the pin is welded in place. Your photo shows the inner steel bushing slid out, which might be the problem. Try removing the outer nylon washer, sliding the steel bushing back into place, then tipping the arm as it comes off the end of the bushing. You can also turn the steering wheel a bit to get just a little extra clearance.

If all that fails, then you may need to take the box loose. Odds are it needs attention anyway, most of them do. But if you just remove the lower pinch bolt in the clamp in the middle of the column (it has to come all the way out), and tap upwards on the clamp to release the lower shaft; then remove the two bolts that hold the box to the frame, you should be able to pry it upwards enough to get enough clearance to R&R the arm.

I was able to remove the bushing and nylon washer. Still can't get it out. Will remove the steering box.

So by taking out the two bolts that hold the steering box, and gently lifting it just a very little I was able to get it removed. Thanks Randall
