well, got two pistons off relatively easy. im shocked at how well this car ran considering the shape of the pistons taken out so far (see pic). question: is there a trick in removing the con rod from the crank? just cant seem to get the last two off. bolts and lock tabs came off easily.... but cant spread the clamps apart to remove. any suggestions?

I have a ginormous pair of Channell Lock pliers (24") and grab the offending part and rock it side to side ever so gently.

I stick the bolts into the cap about 1/2" then squeeze them together with my hand and wiggle back and forth the long way.

Me too.

If they are really stubborn, thread the bolts into the rod part way, hold the cap up against the crank, and tap on the bolt heads with a soft (eg brass or lead) hammer.
