removing 1974 headrest

Does anyone know how to take the headrests out of a 1974 Midget seat? I got one headrest out by just pulling it up--the spring clip in the metal headrest pillar didn't catch in the seat back guide.

The clip on the other headrest is preventing the headrest from being pulled out.

I'd appreciate any tricks to get the headrest out. Thanks
 
I just pulled really hard and really fast. Watch your chin!
 
Some PB Blaster down there for a couple of days. Then pull really hard. Helps to have seats in the car as well.
