Removed heating system from bugeye....Questions

Bill...you're saying to put 1/4" spacers behind the fan (inside the Bolt well), where it mounts? Regarding overheating/lean mixture...wouldn't the spark plug electrode show evidence of this? Plugs looked good when I pulled them, no melting of electrode of ceramic.

Only one way to install that fan (and it will "pull"!).

I just wanted to be sure that he wasn't putting a Mini fan on it!(pusher).
OK- I had thought that you said that it heated up at speed but didn't at rest but you are saying that it is OK at speed and hot at rest so- YES-- a bigger (plastic) fan IS the correct answer.
If you have a 1275 then you need the 1/4" spacer to allow you to clear the PCV tank that is attached to the timing cover, if you have a smaller engine then I am fairly sure that you just bolt on the plastic in place of the metal fan and you are good-to-go (no spacers necessary).
--And DON'T change the carb mixture in this case.

I'my not going to have the time to work on the car for a couple of weeks, but I will definitely keep you updated when I do. Thanks everyone...more to come.

No air flow. That is your problem.
Same issue on a american car I had.
1. Fan Shroud correct, mounted proberly
2. Depth the fan fits in shroud,if it is to far in or out, not good
3. Belt slip, is water pump pulley the stock size?
4. water wetter. heard it will drop 5-10 degrees temp
5. And what everybody eles said. waterflow through radiator Clogged?

The heater core valve is a feature. In the summer you shut it off so you don't over heat the cabin.
It is kind of a useless feature as the heat from the engine. transmission and exhaust system does a much better job of cooking you when it is hot out.
One of the few street cars that puts half of your body with in 12 inches of everything that is hot.
However this is half the fun
Can't take the heat get out
