Looks a little rough, but could be straightened, I guess. Would you be interested in a pair of the horizontal, late sixties/early seventies "split" rear chrome bumperettes? I have a pair sitting in a drawer, in pretty nice shape that I will never use!!! PM me if you want!

Oh yes, definitely!
Of course it will take him a week (or more) to get the grille to me.

Good sniping Rick! Here are the pictures of those bumperettes! As I said, they ARE rough /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif !! I have been told the dents can be hammered out, then they could be re-chromed! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Ah, yes.
Now, is there a place in a state that isn't dominated by the EPA where I could get those re-chromed for less than an arm, a leg and the organ of their choice?

My state (Washington) makes it very hard to do business, so I believe sending things out of state to be done would more than pay for the shipping costs. I'm sure there are a few members here who have tried to get something chromed here who could tell stories. I know I've seen several shops go out of business rather than spend the time & money it takes to comply with EPA.

These are the other ones... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Bumperetts can be beat out and rechromed for about 60 bucks each.

There you go Rick! PM Jack and get his re-chroming source!!

Thanks Jack, doing it here would certainly cost more than buying new. I don't know yet what I'm going to do but I'm saving those links.

Anyone in Georgia know of a good chrome shop?
Georgia seems to have a pretty good attitude about keeping businesses in business.

I'm going to get the new grille installed and then decide if I even want a bumper on the front or just leave it bumperless.

The classic chrome bumper I bought yesterday will go on the back, and I'll fix the exhaust properly.

As soon as I get enough of a sunny day I will get the front suspension lowered 3 or 4 inches.

Then the major thing to fix or replace will be that hood.
( or I could go ahead and install the scoop / air dam /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif )

That would certainly fit with the more "aggressive" look you are giving Frank!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ouch, I found a brown Midget hood (bonnet) on Ebay - after shipping it would be $300. I'm sure I can do better than that!

That teardrop shape scoop is sounding more attractive.
On a scoop how do you keep the rain from entering?
I have a fiberglass teardrop scoop here that I would have to modify - cut out the front to allow air to enter. Is rain entering even a problem? Here in the Northwest you really can't wait for sunny weather to drive /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I would prefer it being flat. But that's just my opinion. (Trevor prefers no fender beading and I do)

It's your car. If you want and can live with a teardrop bubble on the bonnet go ahead. You don't need to cut out an opening. Pleanty air will come up from underneath.

If it were me, I would take a piece of flat metal, hand form a slight curvature and spot weld it in place. A very small amount bondo and it would look perfect. You could even form a little more curvature to make more a TR4 style bubble but smaller.

What I am actually thinking is to wait for warm weather and then remove the hood, take it to a shop & have the hole filled. I can prime & paint it to match once the welding is done.

Heck, maybe I'll try doing it myself.
Weld in a patch and then grind it smooth, worst case is I cut it out and then have a shop do it over /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Nah, with a grinder and a body hammer and dolly you could get it real close. Heck, if you over stretch the metal, you could always cut/close the gap and reweld.

Thanks Trevor, that's encouraging!
Now bring on some sunny weather!

heh heh heh...

It's all about commitment...

(another piece for my Midget sniped)

ok, the Monza quad tip exhaust unit - apparently I was willing to go all the way & the other bidders were not - I'm still getting it for about half the price of a new one shipped.
Works for me /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
