TR2/3/3A remove protective covering off floor pans

Has anyone removed the black plastic or paint or whatever it is off of new floor pans? The stuff is like cheap paint, but really stuck and useless. I imagine for rust protection.
 
i had some arrive bare, and others arrive with black paint.

I blasted them all before installation and painting.
 
Thanks John I will end up blasting them. The stuff kinda almost falls off, so I thought there might be a quick way to get it off. I reposted the same post because I thought it did not take, so now I have asked twice.

If it doesn't come off with the lacquer thinner, some say to leave it on, which is what I have done. The panels seem to come with different coatings. Tom
 
If it doesn't come off with lacquer thinner then it must be powder coated or sprayed with a catalyzed paint , I'd leave it on too.
 
It is some kind of plastic and yes lacquer hardly touches it. On one pan it is falling off in sheets in places, and on the other the stuff is really stuck. What is working best is scraping it off. It has some flash rust behind the areas it is falling off the easiest. I might try a dab of paint remover just to see if it wrinkles. I would have left it if it had some consistency of staying on. The stuff on the inner sills is paint and I left that. This stuff is just unstable. How about some light heat? My fear would be distorting the pan.
