Remote door lock question

I'm new here, could use some help please. I have a 94 XJS and when I use the remote fob to unlock the doors,I get a sustained chirping instead of the doors unlocking. Any ideas why this is happening?? Thanks, Tom

If you've replaced the battery in the FOB, then have the main car battery checked to make sure it isn't going weak. For a quick test, turn on your head lights, then turn the key to start the car and see if the lights dim excessively. Also check all your fuses. These are some easy things to check.

Check to see if the door locks are function properly. Also check to see if the door switches for the lights are working. IIRC, the constant chirping means that something isn't closed or a switch/sensor is bad. Maybe the trunk?

Trunk, hood and glovebox.

For got to say, try lubricating the linkage.

Maynard is correct a long beep indicates something is not closed all the way. I don't think any of the 94's had a bonnet sensor and definately no glove box, but some had a rare movement sensor option that could be difficult to set correctly.
