Reflector in tail light

Is there a purpose to the missing reflector (other then reflecting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

The lights on the left side are not as bright (looking at the bulb) and the directional is not working.

The socket feels a little loose, so it may be a grounding problem, but it does not work even if i hold the socket tight to the fixture.

i wouldn't think that the missing reflector would cause a problem, but it does appear to be held in at the same place the socket is loose.

I ~think~ it was all crimped in as an assembly, Rob. You may find establishing a ground on it from the "inside" may help, but the reflector would make the parking and brake lights appear brighter, fer sure. It "focuses" the light to/through the lens. If you can get a good ground on the socket from the trunk area you might try fabbin' up a temporary reflector with aluminum foil. Just a thought.
 
Should be there, Rob - & it does make the lights brighter...I've got good used housings if you decide you need one.
 
HE's gonna need one, Tony. The foil is just a "band-aid".
