Hey y'all,
Have repaired the areas on an original banjo style steering wheel that other where the spokes attached to the rim was in excellent condition. What is the best type of paint to use to refinish it back to the proper black finish ? Some type of expoxy of is there a simple one stage, rattle can type paint I can use ?

Hi For rattle can type paint I have successfully used high temperature black engine paint. But if you want an epoxy paint and have spray equipment it is available at most good model ships.--Fwiw--Keoke

HI a Product that works very well for repairing the cracks in a steering wheel is " JB Weld "
 
Hey Ian & Keoke,
The former owner had repaired it but never refinished. The only part that really needs "painting" is where the metal spokes meet the rim in two spots. Not sure what he used but appears to be a very hard body filler, perhaps an epoxy filler of some kind. Wheel was repaired quite a few years ago and those repairs still look great. Think I might try Keoke's idea of high temp engine paint and see how it looks.
