when topping off my shock does it need to be pushed up or down when capping it ....or maybe bled somehow....
filled up my sloppy one and it didnt seem to do much....is there a technique?......cant afford new one right now

You need to work the car up and down to get the air out... then repeat as needed.

You can ask Peter (the shock guru) at nosimport@mailbag.com . He will probably answer most any question in hopes of securing your business later (as he sells rebuilt units)

If it just took a small amount of oil to top it off and made no difference, then the shock is probably kaput. If it was almost dry, then you must remove the shock from the car. Drain all the old oil out and put the shock in a vice so that you can work the arm up and down. Add the new oil and work the arm up and down slowly to work the oil into it, keep adding oil till no more air bubbles appear and no more oil can be added. Top up the filler hole and reinsert the cap.

Now Trevor... my presence here, and any adivise I may offer, is strictly motivated by the most altruistic of reasons. OK? Now, Zimmy, if that's your real name, I pretty much described this in your first post back on March 1. It would seem you haven't gotten the air completely out. Work it slowly. Biff's got it right. (of course he was at a seminar I gave at SpriteSpree '03) Give me a call, if you wish, and I can talk you through it. Peter

Oh, the light dawns. That's who peter is. Hi peter.

Didn't mean to imply anything Peter. I was trying to say that you answer questions honestly (without a sales pitch) and that honesty is what drives business your direction. Is that better?

it was way low and it does bubble when i bounce the car....ill give it another try ltr....
new ones are on my list for later peter.. thx........

I for one think it is wonderful that Peter has joined us here and is able to answer our shock questions with a professional eye. If I get premision, and I have asked for it I will add answers like the above to the Knowledge base. Would be nice to have a good resource for those kind of questions that are repeated.

Stop, you make me blush. Trevor, I'm learning emoticons. Which one is toungue-in-cheek? LOL Zimmy. No bubbles. OK? Keep at it. Takes a while. Peter

Nice sig Peter.

Welcome Peter. Now I can stop plugging you.
