I have googled and searched my Haynes book for the proper dash set up for controls. Can someone post a dash picture that show where the controls (key, choke, turn signal, lights, etc) are located or refer me to a past post?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Redoing dash question

Mike,
Here is the MK 1 dash, a lot like yours.

Turn signal switch top, wipers lower left, lights lower right,

Key middle.

knobs from left are starter, heater, washer, choke.

Someone with a sprite should chime in shortly if there is much difference.

Re: Redoing dash question

Thanks Tony, it's a 1958 Bug Eye. Edit function can be a life saver.

Switches, wiper left of ignition/light (center) heat (cable) to the right of Ig/lt

Signal light is center above steering wheel.

Re: Redoing dash question

You should get a Moss catalogue. They have very good illustrations in it.

Re: Redoing dash question

The far right gauge above is an optional clock.

Re: Redoing dash question

59 sprite dash the choke and starter pulls not in the dash yet. other wise this is it. I think.

Re: Redoing dash question

Starter and choke seem to be backwars to me. All my Bugeyes have had the starter way right.

Re: Redoing dash question

I agree, Jack, that puts the starter cable right in line with the solenoid and the choke right behind the carbs!

Re: Redoing dash question

Sorry about the no picyure thing. The yellow dot is about where the choke goes and the blue is about where the stater pull goes.Stater pull should come straight thru the bulk head
to the starter switch.

Re: Redoing dash question

The pictures in the Moss catalog are copied from the original parts manuals, so they should be definitive.

I have a copy of the original owner's manual ("driver's handbook") but it shows only the right-hand drive version. The LHD version is essentially a flipped version of the RHD, except that the heater and wiper controls are in the same place, as are the choke and starter, which seems essential.

Re: Redoing dash question

I dont think they moved the location of the choke and stater switch. The starter cable would not reach from any other location.

Re: Redoing dash question

It would be next to impossable to have the starter anywhere but right behind the starter switch. It just ain't made to work otherwise.

Re: Redoing dash question

So, the starter pull switch on a BE is way over in front of the passenger, but on the MKI Midget it's next to the tach. I'm wondering because the PO ditched it for a push button and a solenoid and I kinda like the pull knob so thought I'd return to it (bought this recently ebay )
There's a mounting ear right in front of the heater box on the right edge that I assumed was where the original starter switch would be mounted, cable straight through firewall and would end up roughly where the BE has it, don't see how it could ever snake over to the tach side. Enlighten me. I'll go look for pictures. I remember seeing Tony's '63 has a nice pretty engine bay shot but can I find it back? noooooo

Re: Redoing dash question

I should be around next weekend I could swing by and you can take a look. Your in north dallas? Maybe Mike (Texas sprite) could come too! need to get out for a drive.
