TR2/3/3A Recovering Dash TR3

I am in the process of recovering an extra dash that I have for my 3. I have noticed that on the old dash there are a few small clips that seem to help hold the old covering in place at the bottom. Is this something that came with the car or added later? I cannot find them in any of the big 3 catalogs.

16,951 has the clips. They look to be original.
I've seen those clips somewhere--do they come with some of the recovering kits?

I have a spare dash that has those clips as well. They look pretty close to the 2nd picture that Woolies sells: Edge clips

I think the clips were only original on the earlier dashes, where the covering was a separate fabric. They weren't necessary on the later ones, where the covering was molded to the dash.

What constitutes "early" and "late," here?

I thought the dash covering changed at TS60K, but I could be mistaken. ISTR the one car I parted out with the molded dash covering was around TS72K, but that was a long time ago.

Never knew about the change in dash covering -- that's what happens when for 30 years you have only one TR and one wife.

Those clips look a lot like the clips that hold the seat coverings in place on the TR4 -- semicircular on one side and a toothy grip on the other.

Couldn't find them on the Moss site, likely because they expect you will reuse what you've got.

On TS 12909 I used contact cement and a bag of clothespins to hold the material in place for a day to ensure the glue set properly. That was 20 some years ago! Recently I decided to remove that covering in order to sandblast and refinish the dash once again, needless to say removing the old covering was quite a task!
A heat gun and my new multi tool with scraper attached came in quite handy.
Lacquer thinner on a steel scrubbing pad and some elbow grease did a quite nice job of removing what glue the sandblaster wouldn`t.
