TR4/4A Rechroming TR4 tail lamps?

I am getting the bits together for the chromer. For those of you who have done this, do you need to remove the small aluminum housings for the light fixtures? They are pressed in the chromed light housing and if I don't have to remove them, I won't. I don't see a problem with them being chromed aesthetically if the chromer thinks they will survive the process.

Has anyone removed and then reinstalled them?

Thanks!

I left them in when I had those parts chromed. The chromer said nothing and everything went together and works fine. I do not recall if they got plated or if the guys put something on that bit to keep it from getting plating.

Jeremy,

Boy wish I could remember what I did with mine when I had them rechromed so I could help but that was too long ago (27 years!).

Does your plating company have any advice on this? If no one else has an answer for you, I can check some of my spares to see if it jogs my memory.

I found my receipt for the plating and it was $90 to plate the 2 taillight housings and the 2 front side marker housings back then. I'm guessing that it's a little more expensive these days. :frown: I do seem to recall that I sent them to a different company than my rear bumper as I had to find a company that would do pot metal plating.

Jeremy,

Let me know how they turn out for you. I think Hanlon was who I had rechrome my rear bumper although I can't find the receipt for it now.

Howdy Gents,

Would someone please PM, Email or Post "Hanlons" contact info.

Thanx, Russ

Hey Geo,

Thanks for the info on more current pricing. Who did you use?

Scott

Geo,

Thanks! I think I remember you mentioning them before. They don't seem to have a website though so how can I bookmark them!

Jeremy,

Definitely let me know how those turn out for you since Hanlon is close to me (relatively).
