My Spite was built on 9/12/1960 but the certificate doesn't say where. Were Bugeyes built in Abingdon?

Also, it said it it was sold to the Hambro Trading Company. Anyone know where that was located?

Mike Pennell

All Bugeyes (except maybe for a few specials and pre-production models) were assembled at Abington.

Mike

Hambro was a company established in about 1947 to import and distribute British cars. There had various locations, California, New Jersey, Louisiana to name a few.

What other info was on your certificate?

Was Hambro related to Hasbro? LoL

I know but you try finding a Barbie Bugeye on ebay when you want one

should have searched for divorce Barbie - the one with all Ken's stuff

Ray:

The certificate had build date, date of despatch, color (exterior/trim/top), add-ons (like a front bumper that has been lost over time) and an "FP" number (for keys?).

Otherwise, not much more.

Mike,
Did the certificate have any additional number other than the VIN number? I would be interested to order one for my BE if I could obtain the numbers stamped on the small door jamb tags.
Thanks,
Scott in CA

My certificate included the following information:

Make/Model
Car/Chassis Number
Engine Number
Body Number
Specification (mine: LHD, North American Export)
Colour (exterior/trim (interior)/hood
Date of Build
Date of Despatch
Destination Dealer
Other Numbers (mine: Key number (key code?))
Details of Factory Fitted Equipment
Other info

That's what is relevant.
