I got the book on Amazon... It's cheaper than TRF. But I'm afraid I've never replaced the carpet, so I can't be much help in that respect.
Everyone is correct "The How to Restore.." book goes into great detail.

If you have room to lay out your carpet beside your car I'm sure you can figure it out. You can start by laying the different pieces in to determine which way is best for you. Theoretically, the only pieces of carpet that are glued in are the strips that run along under the door. The other pieces you'll want to snap in so you can always remove them to dry if you ever get caught with your top down during a rain storm.
I just had my carpet laying in my car for months until I finally got around to installing the snaps one day.

Never glue the floorboard carpets in. The original carpet is permanently afixed to the floorboard under the seat railing; I, however even have mine rigged to Velcro in place with some slits sewn in for removal. Not just rain, but washing will always leave water on the floor, and RUST.
Complete kits are available for the install, TRF has some nice ones, even in wool, if you want plush. I coated the entire floorboard of my TR6 with a thick coat of PPG epoxy "paint" so that rust should never occur. The same stuff they use to coat oil rigs offshore.

Funny, I just put the carpets back into my '69 Corvette today.
The big thing is to actually put the bolts in and then lay the carpet down. It will help locate the carpet, and if you have to cut the carpet for the holes, you just cut an X over the top of the bolt.
I use 3M General trim adhesive. Works fine.

I wish they made a 1 peice carpet kit for our cars that was a bit more permanent.
I think I'll just take it to an autocarpet place and have them do a custom no seam install. It should look slick.

Might want to rethink the one piece carpet; getting to the transmission/clutch or even the front u-joint on the prop shaft are easier to do from the top side. While the one piece carpet will not prohibit this it could make life interesting. Just a thought . . . .
