Took the block, crank, pistons, rods, head and cam to the machine shop yesterday. This place has computer balance equipment which will check dimensions, tolerances, etc., provide all baseline information, and then outline what needs to be done, finally balancing everything. The results are all documented, and then turned over to the customer in a folder. I was duly impressed with the place, though first impression wasn't that great.
Turns out that a local fellow named Hutton builds Lotus racing engines for folks all over the world, and he uses these guys. He started out with Cosworth Vegas. He's got a couple of Elites in the works now - his specialty. One has an all new body, and is being shipped off to be painted. Can't wait to see it when they get it back.
Anyway, the motor is on its way to being put back together. I'll be ordering pistons as soon as I get word what size I can get. Will be going back mostly stock, with just a little tweaking.
Body is at the body shop being prepped for Black Tulip paint job. This winter will be spent cleaning and restoring all the little stuff at home, then hopefully will begin reassembly in the spring. Looking forward to bugging all of you with lots of questions!
