Since I am a very frugal person, I would choose the simplest and cheapest solution first. Chances the cylinders are not corroded beyond help. A little crocus cloth in the bore and a new seal could fix your problem for a few bucks. Start with the slave it's easier. Major difficulty will be bleeding the system once the leak is repaired. Bob
Do both cylinders at the same time. If you rebuild one, the other is sure to go bad in a couple weeks.
Look at the slave bore, if it's not pitted, rebuild it.
You can usually rebuild the master as it rarely pits.
Water settles in the slave and causes the pitting.
Frank has the technique down for the Master Cylinder but for the rest of us I've been told it is an almost impossible task to get the second retaining ring out without scoring the bore. Even when they are replaced as new they still leak. I replaced Bugsy's Brake Master and Clutch Master and Slave 6 years ago with new. I've noticed fluid on one of the pedals recently so I need to pay more attention to it and check resevoirs more frequently. Stopping is more important than going.
These are a Capital B Word to bleed. And I agree if you replace one better replace the other. Lots of tips will be needed from this list when time comes to bleed the clutch. IMHO rebuilds from the Fruit Place have been reported frequently on this list and other forums to be less that quality work. Go new if you can, your life isn't worth the difference in price for rebuild vs. new.

WHERE did you see that, Tim?? I just checked all Spridget "specials" and didn't find. They can't even purchase the brake m/c for your total quoted $s!!
