Re: rebuild up-date

Jon,
I'm still hooking it up, Doing cables, hoses and wires. Then the radiator and new driveshaft, put the exhaust system in and I get to turn it over. Probably Sat. morning. As far as parts, and tools inside check the thread titled "Gloom, deapair and agony, oh me".

Re: rebuild up-date

So it's running pretty well. I've got some kind of goo that keeps clogging the primary idle jet and I have to keep blowing it out. It looks like clear greasy stuff and I don't have any idea where it's coming from. Fuel filter is new from right before the disaster. 50 miles on the engine and I can't wait till it's broken in.

Another graduate of the Tinster school of combined automotive power plant and fine arts.

Looks good particularly in a spit where you can see the whole motor easily!

Re: rebuild up-date

Glad to hear it's moving on its own with no major problems. i'd consider the goo a minor problem, and hopefully a soon to be discovered and fixed problem.

so if it's in the jet, it's from before the carbs in the fuel system. is it getting to both jets? and how new is the fuel system equipment? i might try running some fuel through the line into a can, maybe with and without the filter. gonna have to turn the starter over to get the fuel pump goin.

Re: rebuild up-date

Just over one hundred miles and ironing out nicely. It's sure is hard to keep it under 4k. I still need to get the header trued and plug the hole in it. and the carb doesn't want to return to the idle position sometimes.
Flinkly, Good troubleshooting procedure but it seems moot. Whatever it was seems to have washed out of the system. It's running really well. PM or call and I'll bring it over and show you.
Graham, I was definitely influenced by Tinster and Brosky's photos, nothing peer pressure to keep you going.
