TR2/3/3A Rebuild early bomb style starter TR3

I'm getting ready to rebuild my starter and I want to replace the Pinion. The part numbers from the book are 501030 for the pinion and sleeve or 503529 for the pinion and sleeve assembly. Are these the correct Lucas part numbers? I see them for sale on ebay but my numbers are not even close to the ones on ebay. No luck with Moss or TRF.

Those are Stanpart (Triumph) part numbers, not Lucas numbers. 503529 appears to be for the later starter, but 501030 looks like what you need.

The equivalent Lucas number appears to be 291562.

I'm not sure what the differences are, but there appear to have been several almost identical parts, so caution is advised. For example, the 57 Standard Vanguard which AFAIK used the "same" engine, had the same model of starter (Lucas M418G) but had pinion and sleeve P/N 291806 instead of 291562.

Thanks again Randall, now if I can find one. Mine is in bad condition because the car had a flywheel with bolt on ring gear. Bill thanks for making the trade for a correct flywheel for the car.

Drop me a note if you decide a used one would do. I'm pretty sure I've got one in decent condition in the parts bin; plus more whole starters than I'll ever need (especially since I just converted to a later flywheel).
