Back when Audi was racing it's R8 LMP at Le Mans, they had designed the car so all parts were easily replaceable. If anything in the back end of the car went bad, they could change the whole rear section in less then four minutes. That meant everything from the engine back. All the brakes hoses were quick disconnect and pre-bled. One year I watched them when they they did it to two cars...one had a gearbox problem, and the other had a bad shock! Yes, it was faster to change the whole rear of the car then change one shock. Engineering at it's finest.

Needless to say, the rules were changed so now you have to finish the race with the same gearbox housing you started with.

Geez.
Talk about PHONY.

There isn't one bolt in that thing, other than a couple of lug nuts.

Standard-Triumph did much the same thing in 1959 and 1960 as they introduced the Triumph Herald at various shows around the world. The idea was to demonstrate how the Herald was constructed of easily replaceable major body sections. A crew would "build" a Herald Coupe on a stage (some crews got down to about 2.5 minutes or so!), and someone would then get in, start the car and drive off! It was even done on NBC's "Today Show" in 1960. Unfortunately, no film exists of that particular build, but there are various still shots in some of the Triumph history books.

That's pretty neat to see. Of course, it's a rather special Jeep, but still a neat show.

They're Canadian. Eh.

Didn't realize that, but of course that explains it, it's likely our military's only Jeep so they've probably had practice. :jester:
