Rearview Mirror needs tightened up.

Hello gang. The dog needs help again as I have been kicked today. With the temps getting warmer I have an issue with my rearview mirror coming out of position from the road vibration and the cockpit being hot with the top up. As I drive it slowly, it comes down out of position where I need it to stay at to see. I looked at it and it just looks like a ball on the back of the mirror fitting into a socket (the base mounted to the windshield frame). Is there anything I can do to firm this back up so it will stay or is it just worn out?

2 words,....Duct tape.

Ed, I am thinking about going with the old Corvette look with the mirror mounted down on top of the dash in the middle. I usually like to keep things original but I can get one of those mirrors chromed for cheap from the corvette catalogs. 2 screws into the dash and its on. I dont know for sure, but Im thinking about it.
