you can always recognize the newbies...lots of questions! does anyone know if the modified healey forum is still maintained? tried to join but no response after about a week! i just purchased a 63 bj7 with a modified sbc stroker roller motor and built powerglise tranmission. the car is very well done and very stock appearing...i wish to keep it like that and continue to improve. the car has the stock healey 3.9 rear and a very high stall speed converter. guy i bought it from swore that it was just a cruiser on fair days! i am trying to decide if i should change out the converter...maybe 1600 rpm.. and convert to 3.54 ring and pinion. or, have an eight inch ford rear built and perhaps change to a 700r 4 aod transmission in the future. i do want to keep the current wheels which use the splined adaptors..so can the holes be welded up in the rear adaptors and new holes drilled for the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. any comments or suggestions are appreciated. the car is just for cruising and not racing. I cant answer any of your questions but I would love to see more pictures of the conversion. I am looking at building a similar car in the future and was wondering if your footboxes were narrowed for the powerglide to clear? I would love to see how well it all fits in the frame rails. I would do a period style build with a 283 / 327 engine add possibly the powerglide. I want an auto so my wife can drive it. How is the rpms when driving it with the 390 rear end? I also thought about a 2004r trans because it is much shorter than a 700r4 but is also an overdrive trans and I could use the factory o/d toggle to activate the o/d on the 2004r. I had a 2004r in a streetrod years ago and used a toggle switch to activate it. I had a high gear rear end on that setup and wished for a lower rear end because I was only idling at 70 miles an hour.

Those rear hub adapters are already 5 on 5, so a narrowed Lincoln axle is what I'd be looking for.

The Healey axle is pretty robust, but if anybody knows how well it holds up, Tim Moran does; he's the keeper of the Nasty Boys list: timoran@ticnet.com

hey randy, i bought one of your z3 coupe reenfocing kits a few years back. i had a supercharged, six speed black z3m coupe with most dinan mods available. sold it to my son who traded it later..the kit and the double ear mount worked out well.

I thought that screen name looked familiar: Larry I. Seems we spoke on the phone a few times ;)

Also had a pretty radical 911/sbc too?

The modified Healey Yahoo group forum can be pretty quiet. PM me your email address and I'll send it to the moderator. The MGB guys seem to be the most active in V8 swaps right now and a lot of the info from their swaps crosses over to the Healey stuff. Try these sites: https://www.britishv8.org/ https://www.mgexp.com/phorum/list.php?40 I've got a 345 hp SBF in my BJ7 with a 5 spd and standard Healey rear end with 3.54 gears and 72 spoke wire wheels. So far the splines are holding up well, but I'm not doing any burnouts, either. If you stay with the Healey rear end, the spline drive will be your weak point.

Here's a link to my build: https://forum.britishv8.org/read.php?13,8264

Your car looks great. The fender spears are installed backwards, a pretty common error.

thanks rick! i had not noticed that! i put them on my sebring replica and they are correct...go figure!
