Which way does the seal go in the rear hub? Flat side to outside (wheel) or the other way!

The open end of the seal goes toward the bearing. You want to contain the oil between the axle flange (outer hub) and the back (inner) side of the hub.

FYI, getting the first production prototype of the quick shifter for approval and testing in 2-3 weeks. Once I approve, it'll be a go for quantity.

Does it matter which side of the bearings go in which way? They look reversible -- I'm using the Timkin sealed ones

No, I think the rear ones are the same either way.

Thanks for the help. Was a productive day, got most of the way through the project. New sls and bearings in the rear hubs, and a new pinion seal for the diff. A few things to button up tomorrow and I should be back on the road.

Dirty work, but satisfying.
