Rear View Mirror Relocation

Hi Guys,

I was never completely happy with the location of the rear view mirror on the top of the dashboard. It blocked the right front corner of the car, which made sighting a corner more difficult. It was also hard to see out the back over the cross bow of the tonneau cover, so I came up with this alternate location. Now I can see everything.

Also notice the stud for the tonneau cover. This has a chrome-plated fender washer underneath it to prevent galling the material when tightening down the stud.

I chose to use some chrome-plated dome-head screws for the brackets holding the dashboard instead of the rusty Phillips-head screws. Not sure about your dashboards, but mine would move in and out when I operated the choke, so I installed a few more brackets behind the dash then used the dome-head screws to hold everything together. I tapped the brackets so I wouldn't need nuts.

Buona Fortuna,
Peter Carbone

Peter--

This morning I modified the mirror's mount as you suggested and attached the base, through the hardtop's inner lip to the original tapped back-up plate via the two machine screws.
The mirror no longer vibrates and I have a clear view of the right wing mirror.
Thank you for your post.

AWESOME !
Glad to hear that Michael.

Here's an couple ideas I had for a Third Brake Light and a giant wrench for removing the Knock Off Hubs.
The brake light can be transferred to the top if necessary with the use of Bullet Connectors.
It only takes one small hole in the tonneau cover for the wires.

I was never happy about beating the crap outta the Knock Off's if I had to remove a wheel
so I came up with this solution when working on the car in the garage.
A piece of carpet keeps from scratching the paint.

Peter C.
