rear view mirror - another 'holes' question

'62 Sprite Mk II - Looking at top of fascia, I have three sets of two holes, only one of which I assume is correct for the rear mirror. Suggestions on what the others might be, or perhaps just extras?

I'm guessing extras, perhaps the mirror was replaced, pulled out accidentally and relocated to get the screws to bite, or aftermarket someone found a cooler mirror.

OR

early air conditioning.

I think someone drilled the holds the wrong way around the first time and had to do it twice.

Boy is that a nicely polished windsheld post.

That's a simple fix, Get yourself some Stainless Self Tapping Screws, screw in a ways and grind off the heads flush. Must times don't even need to spot weld and grinding makes them one with the sheet metal. Mount Mirrors wherever you now please.
